Why seller fees are hard to work out
Every marketplace builds its fee from different parts. eBay charges a percentage that changes by category, plus a small fee on every order, and it charges that percentage on shipping and sales tax too. Etsy adds a listing fee, a transaction fee and a separate payment processing fee. Poshmark takes a flat fee on cheap items and a percentage on everything else. Depop charges no selling fee in the US but still takes payment processing.
That makes it easy to underprice. A pair of shoes that sells for $50 can cost anywhere from $2.10 to $10.00 in fees depending on where you list it. These calculators do the math the same way each platform does, line by line, so you can see which fee is which.
How we keep the numbers right
Fees change several times a year. We check every rate against the platform's own help and fee pages, link to those pages under each calculator, and show the date of the last check at the top. If you spot a fee that has changed, tell us and we will update it.
What these calculators do not include
Optional extras such as promoted listings, boosts and store subscriptions are switches inside each calculator rather than defaults. Income tax, currency conversion on payouts to a foreign bank and chargebacks are not included. Treat every result as a close estimate, not an invoice.
