eBay fees for Canadian sellers
eBay.ca charges a final value fee when an item sells: a percentage of the total sale, plus a per order fee of CA$0.40, or CA$0.30 when the order is CA$10 or less. These are the rates for sellers without an eBay Store.
| Category | Final value fee |
|---|---|
| Most categories, including clothing, toys, collectibles and eBay Motors parts | 13.6% up to CA$7,500, then 2.35% |
| Books and magazines, movies and TV, music (vinyl is 13.6%) | 15.3% up to CA$7,500, then 2.35% |
| Sports and non-sport trading cards, collectible card games, comics | 13.25% up to CA$7,500, then 2.35% |
| Coins and paper money | 13.25% up to CA$7,500, then 2.35% |
| Bullion | 13.6% up to CA$7,500, or 7% on the whole sale above that |
| Guitars and basses | 6.7% up to CA$7,500, then 2.35% |
| Athletic shoes CA$150 or more | 8%, no per order fee |
The 2.35% rate applies only to the part of a sale above CA$7,500, not to the whole sale. Bullion is the exception: one rate applies to the whole amount.
eBay.ca charges its fee on sales tax
The total sale that eBay takes its percentage from includes the item price, shipping and handling, and the GST, HST or PST the buyer pays. Here is eBay's own example: a phone sold for CA$400.00 with free shipping to a buyer in Ontario, where HST is 13%.
| Fee | Amount |
|---|---|
| Final value fee | CA$61.47 |
| Per order fee | CA$0.40 |
| Total fees | CA$61.87 |
| You get paid | CA$338.13 |
The buyer pays CA$452.00. eBay works out 13.6% of that, not of the CA$400.00 price, so the fee comes to CA$61.87, or 15.5% of what you charged. eBay's version of this example also adds a CA$0.30 insertion fee because the seller had used up their free listings.

Other eBay.ca fees
- International fee: 0.4% of the total for buyers in the US and 1% for other countries, unless you ship through eBay International Shipping, which has no international fee.
- Below Standard: an extra 6% of the total, rising to 7% after four months in a row. A very high rate of "item not as described" returns adds 5% in the affected categories.
- Insertion fees: 250 listings a month are free, then CA$0.30 each. Guitars and basses are always free to list.
- Currency conversion: if eBay converts your money, for example when you sell on eBay.ca but chose US dollar payouts, it keeps 3.25% of the exchange rate.
Depending on where you live, GST, HST or a similar tax may apply on top of eBay's fees. This calculator shows the fees before that tax.
