Free selling up to A$25,000 a year
If your registration address is in Australia, you have no eBay Pro plan, and your sales over the past 12 full months come to A$25,000 or less, eBay charges no final value fee when an item sells. eBay counts sales across all its sites, including postage and tax, and checks again every month.
Free sellers still pay for optional upgrades, such as A$2.20 for a subtitle, and a 3% international sales fee when the item goes to a buyer outside Australia. On a A$80.00 item with A$10.00 postage sent overseas, that is A$2.70. As part of free selling you generally have to send items with eBay's prepaid label or a label bought on eBay.
Over A$25,000: Pro Starter
When your 12 month sales pass A$25,000 and you have no Pro plan, eBay tells you on the 20th of the month and moves you to Pro Starter from the 1st of the next month. Pro Starter has no monthly fee. You pay a transaction fee on every sale instead:
- 13.4% of the total sale up to A$4,000, and 2.5% of any part above A$4,000,
- a fixed fee of A$0.30 per order.
The total sale is the item price plus postage and any tax. All eBay Australia fees include 10% GST.
Worked example on Pro Starter
A A$80.00 item with A$10.00 postage:
| Fee | Amount |
|---|---|
| Final value fee | A$12.06 |
| Fixed order fee | A$0.30 |
| Total fees | A$12.36 |
| You get paid | A$77.64 |
You charged A$90.00 and eBay keeps A$12.36, which is 13.7% of it.
